Dearne Valley 'A I M' Are Working For You

The Barnsley Doncaster Rotherham Waste Partnership has secured £77.4 million of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) funding from the Government to plan for the treatment of leftover waste. Their plans are to build a super waste incinerator.

The sites being considered  is on the old Manvers Colliery Coal Preparation Site, to the rear of the first ‘Next’ warehouse and running parallel to Bolton Road. The site seems to be the most favoured sites since the project began, as it is owned by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council thereby eliminating the need to purchase land and also it is conveniently situated at the juncture of the three Barnsley, Doncaster, and Rotherham Boroughs.

In their back gardens and on your doorstep!

It is estimated that the Waste management site will deal with in excess of 200,000 tons of undefined waste per year, almost 600 tons per day, delivered by lorries to the site from all three Boroughs.

How many will pass through your housing estates each day?

Despite requests, information about the type of waste to be burned is not forthcoming however, similar sites burn

Commercial and Industrial Waste

Clinical Waste

Construction Waste from CDM sites

Hazardous waste (undefined)

Agricultural Waste which may contain animal remains

Waste from Mines and quarries

We Know they will need a 65 metre high Chimney to share the pollution about the Dearne Valley!

We know that, despite using public money, the authorities will have no say in how and what waste is destroyed on site.. read here
